'F. W. Anderson' Orig. in Le Grande, CA by F. W. Anderson, Merced, CA. Seedling grown from open-pollinated seed of 'Govett' ('Caloro'). Selected in 1961; intro. in 1963. Plant patent 2392 issued April 21, 1964, assigned to Stribling Nurseries, Inc, Merced. Nut: oblong with acute apex and base; round in cross section; slight ridges on shell, few dark markings; 50-60 nuts/lb. Pollen shed and pistillate receptivity overlap. Precocious. Ripens three weeks before 'Stuart' in Central Valley of CA.
