'Kernodle' Orig. as chance seedling in Camp Hill, AL, discovered in 1948 by Julius A. Kernodle. Introd. in 1957. Plant patent 1744, issued Aug. 26, 1958, assigned to Simpson Nursery Co., Monticello, FL. Nut: blocky elliptic, with truncate apex and base; laterally compressed in cross section; 57 nuts/lb, 55% kernel; kernels with deep secondary dorsal grooves, wide dorsal grooves. Protogynous. Ripens late.
