'McLeon' Seedling selection grown from open-pollinated 'Moore' seedstock planted in 1961 by Gilbert McDowell, Nevada, MO. Seedling began to bear in 1972, was first propagated in 1974, and received Plant Patent 5,911 March 24, 1987. Nut: oblong elliptic with acute apex and obtuse base; 55 nuts/lb, 55-60% kernel. Leaves are larger and lighter green in color than 'Stark Hardy Paper Shell'. Late nut maturity (November 1 at Nevada, MO).
